Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association Imposed A Lifetime Ban On Team Newbee For Match Fixing

Chinese Professional Dota 2 team, Newbee, was founded on 2014 by Zhang "Xiao8" Ning. Newbee is, most notably known for winning The International 2014, as well as 1st Runner Up at The International 2017. They have long been a top tier Dota 2 team in China and the world, winning tournaments after tournaments. However, recently the CDA and ImbaTV released an official statement regarding team Newbee being involved in match fixing.

The Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association (CDA) have then imposed an indefinite ban on Newbee, preventing them from participating in any ImbaTV & CDA related Dota 2 events.

Below are the official statement released by CDA & ImbaTV.

Statement by CDA The CDA Alliance received a report about the participation of the Dota 2 branch of the Newbee e-sports club in the unfair competition and profit from it on May 12, 2020. After verification by multiple parties, the alliance made the following decisions: 1. Cancel the Newbee e-sports club Dota 2 Division DPL-CDA qualification. 2. Newbee e-sports club Dota 2 division leader Feng Yiqing “Feng”, CDA alliance members refused to hire him to engage in any e-sports related work. 3. Newbee e-sports club Dota 2 division members, Xu Han Moogy, Wen Lipeng Wizard, Yanchao Waixi, Yin Rui Aq, Zeng Hongda, Feng Yi Qing are prohibited from participating in all Dota 2 tournament and event hosted by the CDA union/ League.

Statement By ImbaTV In view of the fact that the Dota 2 branch of the Newbee e-sports club participated in and profited from unfair competition, which seriously violated the spirit of fair and fair e-sports, Imba Media made the following resolutions after verification by multiple parties. 1. The Dota 2 branch of the Newbee team is prohibited from participating in all Dota 2 events held by Imba Media. All opponents in the ImbaDota2 professional League S2 regular schedule will be negatively awarded 0:2. 2. Xu Han Moogy, Wen Lipeng Wizard, Yanchao Waixi, Yin Rui Aq, Zeng Hongda, Feng Yi Qing, who were members of the Dota 2 branch for the Newbee e-sports club, is forbidden to particiate in all Dota 2 events held by Imba Media for life. ————— Newbee players, Fonte, Aq, Wizard, Waixi, Faith and Moogy have all received a lifetime ban from participating in tournaments hosted by CDA and ImbaTV.

The CDA have submitted a report regarding this ban to Valve, the creator of Dota 2, as well as all the evidence regarding Newbee match fixing. It's still unknown if Valve would also impose a ban onto Team Newbee organisation.
