Newbee will appeal the punishment imposed by CDA

It's been official that Team Newbee, from China, Dota 2 has been banned for lifetime from participating in tournaments/ events organised by CDA and ImbaTV. The ban comes from Newbee match fixing a series against Avengerls during a certain qualifier.

Right after an official statement was released by CDA regarding the ban, team Newbee release their own statement to explain their side of the story and what they will be doing regarding this ban.

Newbee official statement is translated below;

"Recently, we have received news from the Chinese Dota 2 Professional Association (CDA) regarding a match fixing series and the penalty imposed on us. We understand where CDA is coming from and we respect that decision made. However, Team Newbee, since established have never and will never do something like this. We will never match fix a series and bet against/ on ourselves. Therefore, we hereby state that we will be appealing the lifetime ban imposed on us.

Since the match-fixing allegation reached us, we have contact an internal investigation but no evidence was found up till now. Due to the recently Covid-19 pandemic, the communication between the organisation and the other Dota 2 branch was tougher and they rely solely on Feng to communicate with external unit. Newbee continue to say that they were indeed surprised at the outcome and the penalty by CDA. They refused to admit that they were involved in match-fixing and will pursue any organisation/ incident that will tarnish or destroy the reputation and image of their brand, Newbee."

No statement were release by CDA regarding this. A second investigation might start to identify if Newbee is indeed innocent and lifting the lifetime ban, allow team Newbee to once again be a member of the CDA. We will update you with another post when CDA response to Newbee.
